Top Tunes Of The Year

There have been alot of great tunes this year, but I thought I'd have a go at listing my Top 10 of 2005, in no particular order.

Elio Rios & Raffunk - To Be Or Not To Be
Fallen Angels - City Life (Herd & Fitz Remix)
Chanel - My Life (Haji & Emanuel Remix)
K90 - Red Snapper (Destinations Re-dub)
York - Ice Flowers (Aly & Fila Remix)
Rava - Hot Tin Groove (Rhythm Masters Vocal Mix)
Lume - Lume
Herd & Fitz - Just Can't Get Enough
Kujay Dada - Let it Play
Signal Runners - 3000 Miles Away

Not easy to choose only 10, but those tunes were my favourites. Lets hope there are plenty more tunes this good in 2006!

The ones that didn't quite make it...

There were plenty of good tunes that didn't make it to this blog this year. Here are a selection that may have made it if they hadn't been ousted by the other contenders, one for each month...

Richard F & Michael Moog - Thrills, Pills & Daffodils MARCH
Faithless - Why Go (Hoxton Whores Remix) APRIL
Mylo - In My Arms (Sharam Jey Remix) MAY
Poker Pets - Loving You JUNE
Paul Johnson - She Got Me On JULY
Bon Sinclar - Love Generation AUGUST
Dave McCullen - Bitch SEPTEMBER
Haji & Emanuel - Take Me Away OCTOBER
Jenn Cuneta - Come Rain, Come Shine NOVEMER

Shapeshifters - Incredible (Nocturnal Remix)

And so we come to the final tune of the year. It is somewhat poetic that the last 'Tune of the Week' is by the same artist as the first 'Tune of the Week'. It is an uplifting house tune and it is in a similar vein to Herd & Fitz's latest offering - 'Just Can't Get Enough'. Which is a huge endorsement given that was one of the biggest dance tunes of the year!

Route 33 - Looking Back

This tune instantly reminds me of Deepest Blue - Deepest Blue. This is not a bad thing, as that is one of my favourite house tunes. The male vocal and guitar backing is very similar to Deepest Blue, and Pete Tong has been playing this one for weeks, which is always a sign that a tune is going to be big. I reckon we'll see more of this in 2006!

Mike Bravo - Someone Like You

A very different direction this week, this tune being a chilled out house number with a great vocal. The song itself owes everything to this vocal, which builds throughout the song and has a good backing which doesn't overshadow the lyrics. A little different to many of the songs I have put on here, but just as good none the less!

Keo Nozari - Close Enough

It seems to a trance hat-trick now, with another trance tune getting the nod. This tune has an outstanding male-female duet in it, which conveys so much emotion and really takes you a journey. Again, I have Si to thank for this one...another one to add to the collection of great tunes he has uncovered over the years!
